About the course leader:

Veronique Maria is passionate about creativity and enabling authentic self expression in everyone.

Veronique has worked in the arts since 1975 and has been a full time self employed artist and artist’s mentor since 1996. She has trained and worked as a transparency retoucher, artist, designer, psychotherapist, and coach and has been mentoring artists one to one, leading workshops and teaching in schools, college and University since 1980’s. She currently leads workshops as a short course tutor at West Dean College of Arts and Conservation, Near Chichester, West Sussex UK and hosts creativity retreats at her home in Worthing, West Sussex.

Veronique is interested in how our relationship with ourselves, others and all things, influences and effects our creativity. From a psycho-spiritual perspective she’s particularly intrigued with how love transforms. She’s been practicing and teaching mindfulness and meditation since 1980’s and is currently training for ordination with the Triratna Buddhist Order.

In her own art practice Veronique explores ‘The Creative Process as a Devotional Practice’. Her mentors include Professors; Danny Rolph and Michael Tucker, Sir Antony Gormley, Simon Grennan, and Janine Antoni. Since 1994 Veronique is been a recipient of numerous grants and awards. Most recently, in December 2020 Veronique was awarded a DYCP grant from Arts Council England, to support further development of her creative practice.

Veronique Maria has an honours degree in Art and Design (Wood, Metal, Ceramics, Plastics – Brighton University), a Masters Degree in Psychosynthesis (Psychosynthesis Applied to Fine Art Practice – Middlesex University), and professional trainings in psychotherapy (Institute of Psychosynthesis, London), coaching (CTI London) and Co-Active Leadership Co-Active Training Institute, USA).
